Heavy Lead Birdsong
by Ryler Dustin
The poet, Li-Young Lee, said that religion is “fossilized poetry.” This rings true in Heavy Lead Birdsong, for it implies that perfection or “completeness” are unnecessary in a poem; that the prayer of poetry is fluid, still alive and moving. Heavy Lead Birdsong is a classic moving creature that lives among our phantoms and holds a piercing eye for the surprisingly gorgeous.
